The Weeknd’s Epic ‘In Your Eyes’ Remix With Doja Cat Has Arrived: Listen 🎧

The Weeknd returns with a big one, “In Your Eyes” (Remix)” with Doja Cat!

After carving out several remixes for his After Hours album, The Weeknd returned early Thursday morning (May 21) with easily the biggest one of them all: an “In Your Eyes (Remix)” with Doja Cat.

Welcoming Doja to his funky playground, The Weeknd allows the multifaceted star to shine on the song’s second verse. After combing through the entrancing soundscape with her feathery croons, she switches into rap mode before allowing the XO star to regain momentum on the hook. “I can’t stop staring at you / It’s like I forgot that staring is rude / And that’s what five shots could turn me into / But you’ve done most things that
gentlemens do” she raps.

Doja is coming off her first Hot 100 No. 1 with “Say So” featuring Nicki Minaj. In a recent interview with Billboard, the Hot Pink star explained how the mega collaboration with Minaj emanated. “It was a conversation, kind of, for months,” she said. “And I was like, ‘I’d love to have her on a song. I know my fans would love to have her on a song. I always get tweets about it, so.’ It just happened. They did hit me with like, ‘Hey, guess who got on
your song?’ And I’m like, ‘Oh my God.’”

Fans looking for more starry collaborations with Doja should buckle up, as she and Ariana Grande also have a record on the way. “I’m obsessed with her. I love her,” Grande told Zane Lowe on his Apple Music show earlier this month.

“I was able to work with her earlier this year on this song that I want to save for whenever it’s time again, to drop,” Grande revealed. “I love her personality. I love what she brings to the table musically. She’s just such a
breath of fresh air. I think she’s brilliant and so talented. … We did this song together towards the end of last year and I love it so much. I remember when I first wrote it and sent it to her, she was in the shower and she was
like, ‘B—h, I love this. I’m in the shower.’ And I was like, ‘Shower. You can call me back.'”

What’s Better Than Joyner Lucas’ ‘Will?’ A Remix With the Fresh Prince Himself 😎

Joyner Lucas already paid the ultimate tribute to his rap king Will Smith with his recent single “Will.” The video found Lucas paying tribute to some of Smith’s most iconic movie and TV roles, which made Smith feel
“humbled and honored.”

But rather than just make a surprise cameo in the “Will” video and express his admiration, Smith did the one thing that was sure to completely blow Lucas’ mind: he hopping in the booth to add a verse for the remix of the

“Will Remix (Feat. Will Smith)” dropped on Friday (May 15). After Lucas’ opening verse, the global icon slips in to talk about some of his biggest inspirations, while promising Lucas that he’s a “legend in the makin’ too”:

every endeavor/ And shoutout to Julius Erving, one of the legends I worship (Worship)/ Muhammad Ali put the work in, he was the champ, the greatest, he earned it/ I love that you think that I’m perfect but I have plenty
mistakes and burdens/ My grandmama thought I was worth it,” Smith raps, going on to also pay homage to Eddie Murphy, late Fresh Prince co-star James Avery, his longtime partner-in-crime Jazzy Jeff, wife Jada Pinkett-Smith, Bad Boys co-star Martin Lawrence and, of course, his kids.

Kamasi Washington has scored Michelle Obama’s new Netflix documentary

“Working with Kamasi Washington on the musical score for ‘Becoming’ was a dream come true,” the show’s director Nadia Hallgre said of the collaboration. “Not only is Kamasi a masterful musician, he also has a unique sensitivity that he pours into his music. His music reaches deeply into your soul.

“Mrs. Obama loves music, and when I read the line in her book ‘And heaven, as I envisioned it, had to be a place full of jazz,’ I knew immediately Kamasi was the artist that could interpret her experience musically. His sound is contemporary and timeless, a magical fit to her story.”

The full soundtrack for Becoming will come out next week (May 15) via Young Turks.

Speaking of the creation of the soundtrack, Washington said: “It was such an honor to work on Becoming – a beautiful documentary film that sheds light into the life of our remarkable former First Lady Michelle Obama.
Working w/ the incredible director Nadia Hallgren to create the musical score for this amazing piece was truly a blessing.”

He added: “Barack & Michelle Obama’s time as President & First Lady had a profound impact on the history of this country & the world. This film gives a unique insight into that impact. Hope you all enjoy it! If you dig the music we’re gonna release a soundtrack for the film on May 15th!!”

Washington also recently scored the finale of long-running HBO drama Homeland. He released his most recent album, ‘Heaven and Earth’, back in 2018.

Speaking of the double-album release, the artist said: “This idea inspired me to make this album ‘Heaven & Earth’. The reality we experience is a mere creation of our consciousness, but our consciousness creates this reality
based on those very same experiences.

“We are simultaneously the creators of our personal universe and creations of our personal universe.”

Library of Congress Launches Open-Source Hip-Hop Sampling Tool

The Library of Congress’ Record Collection, image via Library of Congress

Producers will have access to the library’s vast audio collection, which dates back more than a hundred years!

The Library of Congress, led by current “innovator in residence” Brian Foo, is launching an open-source hip-hop sample tool called Citizen DJ. A preview is currently available, and the full service will launch this summer.

Users will have access to a massive audio collection that dates back over a hundred years, almost to the invention of the phonograph. According to the L.O.C., there will be three ways to access these sound files: an interface for searching by sound and metadata; a simple music-creation app that easily allows the collection to be remixed with hip-hop beats; and various “sample packs” full of thousands of clips from particular collections.

While Citizen DJ will be available for use in other musical genres, Brain Foo’s intention was to bring back the golden age of hip-hop sampling. A data visualization artist at the American Museum of Natural History, Foo pines for the “collage-based” music of the ’80s and ’90s, before lawsuits led to “excessive restrictions on how audio could be sampled.” He said, “today, collage-based hip hop as it existed in the golden age is largely a lost (or at best, a prohibitively expensive) artform. I believe if there was a simple way to discover, access, and use public domain audio and video material for music making, a new generation of hip hop artists and producers can maximize their creativity, invent new sounds, and connect listeners to materials, cultures, and sonic history that might otherwise be hidden from public ears.”

You can help the Library of Congress beta-test Citizen DJ by spending about 15 minutes playing around with the preview.

Like so many of us, the Library of Congress has been on a hip-hop kick recently. Last year, JAY-Z ‘s The Blueprint was entered into the archive and this year it was followed by Dr. Dre’s The Chronic.

Rosalia Says Billie Eilish Collaboration Is ‘Almost Done,’ Talks ‘Super Aggressive’ New Song With Travis Scott

Billie Eilish has collaborated with artists ranging from Vince Staples and Khalid to Justin Bieber, but two of the most tantalizing collaborations she’s done — rising Spanish singer Rosalia and Canadian-Colombian artist Jessie Reyez — have yet to see the light of day.

While the Reyez collaboration Eilish detailed to Variety last fall did not appear on Reyez’s excellent new album, “Before Love Came to Kill Us,” Rosalia provided an update on her collaboration with Billie and her brother-cowriter/producer Finneas — which was first revealed in a Rolling Stone interview back in June — on Beats 1 in an interview airing today.

Rosalia, who is currently sheltering in place in Miami, spoke of the ways she’s been filling her quarantine time.

“I feel like there’s so many things going on it’s hard to focus, but at the same time I feel blessed that I’m at home, that I’m safe, and that I can make music and I have all this time,” she says. “I have this little studio here in one room. I have the basics like a midi keyboard, a computer, a mic, and I try to do all the vocal production for the next record.

“During these two last weeks I have been trying to finish the Billie Eilish collab,” she continues. “I think it’s getting quite closer. I think that the arrangements, I think that yesterday I finished the arrangements. I feel like the production, the sound design, is almost done, so I just need that Billie maybe sends the vocals and they send me the ideas that they want to add because we are there.”

Rosalia, who has released a series of singles following her breakthrough 2018 album “El Mal Querer,” also said she nearly released a collaboration with Travis Scott last month. Rosalia guested on Scott’s “Highest in the Room” last year, but this is a different, “super aggressive” track.

“I was supposed to release a song with him last month that is for the clubs— super aggressive — that I’ve been working on for a really long time. [But] it has, I don’t know, an energy, that is so specific for a certain moment, that I didn’t feel like it was right to release, and I didn’t feel like it was connected with what was going on in the world in that moment.

Drake shares first pictures of his toddler son, Adonis

Canadian rapper Drake has shared his first pictures on social media of his two-year-old son, Adonis Graham.

The “God’s Plan” hitmaker took to Instagram Monday with an emotional post about missing his family and friends as the coronavirus lockdown restrictions continue to affect billions across the globe.

“What is most important for you right now is to connect to your own inner light,” he captioned a series of pictures of his loved ones including the culrly-haired toddler.

“This will create the biggest opening of all. Trust that you have all of the power within to make this happen, and in order to do that connect to the people and things that bring you a lot of joy. When the mind starts to move into overthinking or fear, shift your attention right away to something bright.”

The 33-year-old musician, whose real name is Aubrey Graham, went on to urge his 64.5 million followers to “break free of the wheel of suffering and panic and open up to your own light” in his philosophical message, adding: “We are powerful manifestors.”

He concluded his online outpouring by declaring: “I love and miss my beautiful family and friends and I can’t wait for the joyful day when we are all able to reunite. Until then please keep your lights on.”

In one image, Drake is seen holding the little boy in his arms. Another shows Adonis being embraced by both Drake and his mother, former porn star Sophie Brussaux. Brussaux announced the birth of Adonis in October 2017, but Drake initially kept it a secret. He hinted that he had fathered a child following the brief romance in his 2018 track “Emotionless,” rapping the lines: “I wasn’t hidin’ my kid from the world. I was hidin’ the world from my kid.”

A representative for Drake confirmed to CNN that the child pictured in the photos was his son.

Post Malone Recording Quarantine Album After Producer Tested Positive For Coronavirus

Post Malone, who recently discontinued the rest of his music tour, intends to stay in isolation and re-enter the world with a brand new album.

The rapper has been making rounds in the media for some time now as he has released another No. 1 album and is still breaking Billboard records and some pretty dope achievements. Post Malone was recently on tour with Swae Lee but had to postpone/cancel the remaining dates following the coronavirus outbreak. Since then, artists have been finding creative ways to entertain online, but others are more focused on being musically productive during the downtime.

Posty recently received backlash for continuing his musical tour in Denver, where he performed amid the pandemic against the recommendation and rules imposed by the government about social gatherings and public events.

On Tuesday (March 17), Andrew Watt, Post Malone’s producer, disclosed that he’d tested positive for the infection in an Instagram post. It caused many fans to worry that Posty could have been exposed, but further updates have revealed that the rapper is currently in isolation.

Post Malone’s manager Dre London gave fans an update and also a report of the whereabouts of his artist in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. It was a pleasant sighting for fans when Dre shared a past photograph of himself and the Hollywood’s Bleeding rapper this morning. The rapper’s manager uncovered that they’re going into “quarantine album mode.”

“I’m sorry I can’t stay away from my brother Posty! I’ll take the chance,” Dre said on Instagram. “Tonight we made a smash on FaceTime now we gonna just go into Quarantine Album mode! If we don’t connect energy how the [world] gonna enjoy this summer?” Let’s Get It!! See You Soon bruv! #2020 #DreVision.”

Post Malone’s reputation precedes him, and it’s universally understood that everything he drops is fire. That being said can you imagine what he will accomplish with no pressure, no distractions and nothing but time to focus? I’m here for anything Posty creates while he isolates. Are you?

Drake Self-Isolates After Partying With Kevin Durant

Drake is self-isolating after partying with Kevin Durant just days before the basketball star was diagnosed with coronavirus, Page Six reports.

According to the outlet, the Canadian rapper is self-quarantining in his Toronto mansion. While not much is known about his current condition, Drake was in good spirits on Monday (March 16) when he celebrated breaking the record for most Billboard Hot 100 entries ever.

As fans know, Drake showed how he was practicing social distancing when he took to Instagram Stories, to share the news after he surpassed the Glee cast’s 207 Hot 100 singles chart entries by earning his 208th entry, courtesy of his new feature on Lil Yachty’s “Oprah’s Bank Account, which also features DaBaby and debuted at No. 89 on the Hot 100 chart this week.

Before showing himself popping champagne bottles in celebration of the career milestone, the 33-year-old rapper posted a video from his home basketball court, saying: “My life for the next however long.”

Drake’s career milestone celebration came less than a week after he was photographed hanging out at West Hollywood hotspot Nice Guy with Kevin, who was diagnosed with COVID-19 earlier this week. The NBA star was among the four Brooklyn Nets players to have contracted the virus.

“All four players are presently isolated and under the care of team physicians,” the team said in a statement on Tuesday (March 17). “The organization is currently notifying anyone who has had known contact with the players, including recent opponents, and is working closely with state and local health authorities on reporting. All players and members of the Nets travel party are being asked to remain isolated, closely monitor their health and maintain constant communication with team medical staff. The health of our players and staff is of the highest priority to the organization and the team is doing everything within its power to ensure that those affected receive the best care possible.”
