The Cycles Of Life…
As I note my thoughts in this writing, Mercury ☿ is stationing in Taurus ♉ readying to go direct June 3rd while Saturn ♄ is stationing in Aquarius ♒ preparing to go retrograde June 4th. When planets station, their energy is more concentrated making them more powerful. Mercury ingresses into Gemini ♊ June 13th and Saturn remains in the sign of Aquarius until March of 2023.
People who know nothing or little about Astrology have at least heard of Mercury retrograde most likely because it is the planet of communication and retrogrades at least three times per year more often than any other planet.
Saturn is a gas-giant planet that lies beyond the personal, terrestrial planets of Mercury, Venus and Mars (Astrologers also refer to our prominent luminaries, Sun and Moon, as planets).
Saturn reflects wisdom, maturity, responsibility, discipline and karma. Observations of the planets and their effects on us have been made universally by peoples all over the globe for centuries. Saturn has been associated with karma has through the centuries.
Anatomically, among Saturn’s rulership are teeth, the skeleton and skin. This is interesting as the skin is the outermost layer setting the boundaries of who we are. The skin is the physical boundary separating one person from the other. This is another example of how Saturn sets boundaries, limits.
Our purpose here on earth is to grow and develop. When we take our first breath, we transition from spiritual beings into physical beings and into the dense manifestation and gravitational pull of life here on earth. Saturn shows where this dense, gravitational pull in our lives to grow and develop as human beings is by way of our astrological charts further defining our purpose in this incarnation.
The moon’s nodes are also associated with karma. The lunar nodes, north and south, are more broadly understood when examined as a pair. The lunar nodes are points in the sky where the Sun’s path, ecliptic, and the Moon’s path cross. This happens a few times a year, during which we experience the astrological phenomenon known as eclipses.
The point at which the moon crosses the plane of the ecliptic when moving in a northerly direction is called the ascending moon’s node or north node. Two weeks later the moon intersects the ecliptic plane going in a southerly direction and this point of intersection is called the moon’s south node. The north node, sign and house, is the path forward in this lifetime assisting in the acquisition of earthly experiences that help us develop. The south node represents areas of life we have experienced previously and perhaps feel comfortable with.
Nothing Lasts Forever
The placements of the karmic nodes and Saturn, the planet of karma, together give even more information on the native’s karmic path.
Presently, The nodes and Saturn are in fixed signs: north node in Taurus, south node in Scorpio and Saturn in Aquarius. These placements are in what Astrologers call a t-square aspect which is considered a challenging aspect.
This is a time of karmic accounting globally and individually. For those with planets and placements in the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius, currently seem to be more reflective about their lives looking at their past choices and how those choices have produced the circumstances of their lives today.
This is definitely understandable as challenges seem to be coming from all aspects of their lives. The intensity of this period for these fixed-sign individuals depends on how many planets/placements are in fixed signs and the degrees. Presently, Saturn is stationing at 25 degrees in Aquarius (of note, Mercury is also stationing at 26 degrees Taurus) and the nodes are at 22 degrees. The fixed-sign degrees of from around 22 degrees to 28 degrees seem to be particularly challenging for some now.
This is not an easy time by any means for those with an emphasis on fixed signs. In fact, this would be an excellent time to consult with an Astrologer. Although, just as the only thing that is constant is change, astrological cycles don’t last forever; there are endings to cycles. No, being aware of astrological cycles doesn’t lessen or change the cycles themselves but being informed about cycles can help you to prepare and respond in a more measured way.
There are times in life when we feel as though things are spinning out of our control. Of course, the events that are happening are important but how we respond is even more important. I have seen people with pronounced fixed-sign energies face extremely difficult and sometimes life-altering events with grace.
In terms of dealing with adversity, a public figure that comes to mind is Muhammad Ali. Ali was a heavyweight champion boxer and one of the greatest sporting figures of the 20th century. An Olympic gold medalist and the first fighter to capture the heavyweight title three times in his 21-year professional career. Also, he was the most popular figure in the world. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease which caused a great decline in his physical abilities affecting his speech and physical mobility. However, he did not become a recluse. He still would make public appearances and in fact, lit the Olympic torch, which was witnessed by millions around the world, when it seemed his medical condition wouldn’t allow such a fete.
To my fixed-sign friends, “hang in there.” Just as the sun rises and sets, just as the ocean tides ebb and flow, you will again feel the warm kiss of the sun and the easy flow of the cosmic currents.
Let’s go!
