Letting go does not mean forgetting…
There comes a time in all of our lives that we have to make a choice to let something go whether it’s a home you love but the landlord has decided to sale, a job downsizes your position, the love of your life moves on or someone you love dearly passes away.
These life events are out of our control and we have to let go in order to make space for the new things that allow us to continue to grow. It’s called life. Life is forever changing and we have to either change with the change or stop growing when we cling to the past.
Our loved ones are part of us, who we are. They represent our identity, how we see ourselves in the world: we’re the spouse of, the child of, the parent of, the grandchild of, the friend of, etc. So when someone passes away from our lives, it affects who we are and how we identify ourselves.
Society has established ways we can honor the passing of a loved one by sending flowers, sympathy cards, memorial services/funerals where we can all share not only our grief but memories and joy our loved one has filled us with that will live on.
Letting go is a process; it doesn’t happen overnight and how could it? when our loved one has been part of our lives for years and perhaps for all our lives. Life is for living and the best way to continue on life’s journey is to ‘let go’: to grieve, to remember, and to forever love ~from the Harte 🤜🏽⚡🤛🏽
