Lil Nas X Makes Television Debut With ‘Old Town Road’ Performance On ‘Desus & Mero’
Even though Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” is enjoying a fifth week at No. 1 on the Hot 100f, the 20-year-old phenom has only performed the cowboy anthem once before Monday night (May 7), when Nas X made his television debut on Desus & Mero. The Atlanta native also sat down with the Bodega Boys for a brief interview, and then hit the manmade stage at Brooklyn’s Hometown Bar-B-Que.
“It’s amazing. Everyday is just like, okay, everything was a dream. I just did Stagecoach,” he says of his dreamlike meteoric rise, but the ATL native also makes note that he’s been pushing “Old Town Road” on social media since early 2019. “Promoting [it] for at least three months. I still do it.”
After performing his smash hit in front of the packed western-themed restaurant backed by his live band, Lil Nas returned to the bar area in his bright red jacket to rejoin Desus and Mero for a game of “Country or Nah,” where he’d give out his country stamp of approval on things like hot sauce, Nelly, suede, wizards, F-150s, and more.
